This month's writing prompts are Halloween-based, as opposed to other October writing prompts on this blog. There are six writing prompts with text to help inspire writers, and eight picture-only writing prompt pages to print. There is one coloring page to be used as needed, for fast finishers or children "dragged along" to a writing group. The entire PDF is fifteen pages in length. Teachers or writing group leaders may select which pages they may want to use as fits their particular group's needs. 

The text prompts are as follows:

Mist wreathed the moon in an eerie shroud . . . 

The pumpkins gleamed with frost under the rising sun. 

As night fell, a barred owl began calling with its signature call, "Who cooks for you?"

Bats danced under the full moon. 

The neighbors began decorating for their annual haunted house.

The Halloween inflatables were so ridiculous it wasn't clear it they were funny or tacky. 

Of course, the coloring page included on every PDF.
