Cyber Crime Writing Prompts Free PDF Download for Writers Groups
Remember The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series by Stieg Larsson? It was a series and going strong when he sadly passed away. Then, there were more manuscripts that were caught up in court cases. The books had some cybercrime included, with names of devices and capabilities woven through the plots. However, you might want to interpret cybercrime (mystery, thriller, romance gone wrong) these prompts may help. Sometimes at a writer's group, a quick write warm-up becomes important to a work in progress, maybe even a new chapter. Mystery, Ink.: Murder By Text by Kelly May is an example of a cybercrime book, as well. It is a growing genre.
The free PDF instant download has six prompts with text, six with images only, and one coloring page for children. Perhaps one of these pages will strike your fancy. Click here for the download.
This image shows how it might feel if a hacker takes over a computer, like hands reaching through space. We wonder what hackers might see, and how close we are to an attack. Even banks and companies are hacked, and maybe you have free online protection after such an event. Creepy!
Some people cover their computer camera lens with tape or a cap and turn down the sound when not in use. This picture prompt might be what if the camera was on and forgotten? How would the person feel? An adventure might begin with this prompt.
This prompt might be that the person seemed reliable and helpful, but then problems were not fixed within the time stated. Maybe the person was actually a criminal! Maybe not. Writers may decide!
Caring for an iPhone or computer involves more than keeping it clean. What story does this image spark in your imagination?
What if the device you were using stopped and only showed a warning, even after turning off, unplugging, and resyncing? Then what?
There are additional pages in the PDF. A coloring page for children is included in case a child is waiting through the group meeting.
The prompts are on Carolyn Howard-Johnson's Sharing with Writers and Readers Blog and post on the 15th of each month.
