Valerie Allen Announces November Book Sales Opps for Writers Everywhere!

Just passing along a resource my husband and I have used for years.  It's this Book Fair's display service. I remember that I advise against this kind of thing in my #TheFrugalBookPromoter, but this one is so reasonably priced ($5.00!) and Authors for Authors has some value-added services; they send a picture of your display to use in your own promotion (see the photo below)!  They send a list of your fellow book promoters to aid in networking efforts.  They can be relied on and I have actually seen specific results from having my book there! That is a rarity for shows where the author or publisher are not present to chat up the book.  There is more information on their website at  AuthorsForAuthors.com

Here is the basic info:

Book Fairs: Keeping Your Books Out There!

I sponsored booths like this at this huge fair for many years. Trust me... with the work and expense involved, this is truly “frugal!”  ðŸ˜Š

Big booth that holds 8 authors a day!

AUTHORS IN THE SPAWN BOOTH IN 2019
Since its inception 24 years ago, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books has grown into the premiere book event on the West Coast. Attracting more than 150,000 book lovers, the Festival of Books is the single best place to sell your books to one of America’s largest book-buying market.

Small publishers and indie author members can gain exposure by becoming part of the SPAWN booth at the Festival. Again this year, SPAWN will promote its booth with a series of press releases highlighting members who will be in the booth each day.

Unlike other groups offering an hour or day to authors, SPAWN is a full day experience.

Want to get your book(s) in front of this
150,000 book loving audience?
Come exhibit for one or both days

Two ways to exhibit. Pick the one that's best for you.
Option One: Have a tabletop display in the SPAWN booth plus sell your book(s).

If this interests you, sign up now. Space is limited and strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. The booth fee is $285 for one day or $550 for two days, which includes participation in our booth handouts. NON-MEMBERS IS $75 HIGHER.

Option Two: Have a book on display in the SPAWN booth

If you can’t make it personally to Los Angeles, why not have a copy of your book on display in the booth? SPAWN will feature your book(s) in the booth and in the handout. Cost is $85.
LEARN MORE OR REGISTER NOW!

Do authors sell many books at the festival?
Some members sell boxes of books.

Almost everyone makes valuable contacts that lead to future sales—sign up for gigs on radio talk shows or receive invitations for book signings or presentations, set up interviews with the press, meet educators who’d like to get authors’ children’s books into schools, find publishers for their next projects, discover distributors for specific types of books, and more. One member connected with someone who filmed a documentary based on his military book. The documentary still plays on the Military Channel.

Remember: LA = Hollywood
Movie/television producers attend the Festivalin search of new projects. Two movie studios sponsor the event.

Write, Publish, Sell Writers' Conference. Ideas. Future Plans!

I rarely do last-minute and super local posts here. But this one isn't really local because next year all authors can participate by having their book displayed for only $5. AND, look at some of the "stuff" this book fair does to make it more attractive to readers and authors! If you live in or anywhere near Melbourne, Fl, you don't want to miss it, either!

See You on Sunday!

This will once again confirm your registration for the Writers' Conference: Write, Publish, Sell! to be held on April 22, 2018, at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto, 200 Rialto Pl, Melbourne FL 32901 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

1. Check-in begins at 8:30 AM. Speakers and vendors will pick up their packets in the lobby assisted by our Conference Ambassador, Ash McGrath. Vendors will find their assigned tables in Ballroom C
2. Participants will find their packets at the Welcome Table arranged from A-L and M-Z. Please take your packet and initial the check-in list.

3. The door prize, Writer's Block, will be awarded at 4:00 PM in Ballroom C. You must be present to win. Our keynote speaker, Scott Tilley, Ph.D., will present, Writing to Live at 4:05.

4. Please join in the genre discussion groups to share your experiences and expertise with others. We encourage you to attend as many of the presentations as possible. A conference is primarily an educational event, networking and book sales are a plus!

5. We support the Kids Who Read Succeed project. Please consider donating new and slightly used children's picture books and easy readers. These books and Tee-shirts are donated to the Brevard Federation of Teachers Retiree Chapter. Tee-shirts are also available for $10.00 for the young readers in your life!

6. Please invite those book lovers you know to come and meet you and other authors and vendors at the Writers' Conference. Time to send out those email blasts, blogs and posts to family and friends is now!

7. All vendor tables have been reserved. On-site registration is always available the morning of the conference. The fee is $60.00. On-site registrations will be completed with assistance from our Conference Hostess, Kandi Siegel.

for news and events of interest to local authors and to share your news!

My Favorite 5$ Book Promotion

I generally don't pass along information about specific book fairs to my blog subscribers because they are so regional and because I don't recommend that authors participate if they can't be there in person.  This one is an exception because it is so inexpensive and because the fair producers (see below) pay attention to authors (and their books!) who choose to support but can't be on site.

The Authors' Book Fair is held in conjunction with the ArtsWorks Festival and features a display for authors unable to attend for the frugal price of $5. I have participated for years. They always send me a shot of the display they set up (see the photo at left) and I have found many wonderful networking partners in the process. The fair is November 18 and 19, 2017, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Eau Gallie Civic Center, 1551 Highland Ave, Melbourne, FL 32935. FREE and open to the public. Thousands let their muse run wild and attend this annual even in warm and sunny Florida! And if you can be there, you are welcome in person, of course! Learn more at http://AuthorsForAuthors.com. Or contact Valerie Allen for more information or help with registration: Vallenwriter@gmail.com.
·  Cost: $5.00 per book (cash only)
·  Enclose book, business cards, and payment in zip lock bag with your contact information
·  If you want your book returned, please enclose a SASE
·  All must be delivered or mailed to: Valerie Allen, 101 E. New Haven Av, Melbourne, FL 32901 (or put in drop box in back door) on or before 11/01/17.

Your book(s) and business cards are placed face out on display table (no sales involved) for two days. The book fair is run by Valerie Allen ~ Marshall Frank ~ Holly Fox Vellekoop Registration Deadline: 11/01/17.
