Carolyn Shares Resource Writers Will Love

My visitors and subscribers who write humor, love to read it, are interested in great writers conferences, or are interested in syndication like Erma Bomeck’s, will be interested in this  site and newsletter from Teri Rizvi and Dewald Matt  with you. It is exciting to see a new contest like this come alive, too.

“Dear Writers,
    June 1, 2020

“Out of the blue last year I received an email from Marcia Stewart, a writer and editor with an idea she wanted to share. We didn't know each other. She had never attended a workshop or visited  Erma's hometown of Dayton, Ohio.
“Curious, I agreed to a phone call and learned about Marcia's love for her sister Nickie, an aspiring humor writer who died eight weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer. They were close, the best of friends. Nickie's funny stories and observations about everyday experiences made her laugh like no one else could.
“Marcia's grief led her on a creative journey to our workshop, where we will launch "Nickie's Prize for Humor Writing" on June 15. It's a love letter to sisters everywhere--and a testament to the healing power of laughter.

“Anyone who has a sister knows it can be one of the closest and most fun relationships of your life. Your sister is often your biggest cheerleader, rock-solid support, secret keeper, family memory bank, honest critic and someone who makes you laugh.
“This writing contest is for anyone who loves their sister and has an entertaining, funny story to tell. Previously unpublished essays of 1,000 words or less will be accepted June 15-Aug.1. Up to 20 winners will each receive $300 cash prizes. Eventually, we'd like to compile the winning pieces and other material into a book. That's the dream.
“For more information, read the Call for EntriesAnnouncement and Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop.

  1. That's a great opportunity to show one's love for a sister. Sadly, I'm an only kid.
